PROJECTS OF PSEPHOS, INC.

Psephos is organized to conduct and distribute research, studies, and analysis relating to civil rights and the integrity of elections. Psephos seeks to focus public debate on solutions to issues of government oversight, participation in democracy, and human and civil rights secured by law. Psephos will develop policy solutions and proposals to address transparency in government and the elections process. The research, education, and outreach activities will be aimed toward promoting a well-informed citizenry about the activities of government, the impact of government decisions, and citizen participation in government. The educational and outreach activities will be aimed broadly at the electorate and those affected by elections and government activities. The organization will participate in litigation as appropriate to further the goal of promoting government oversight and civil rights secured by law.

Education:

Psephos is organized to educate citizens, and other stakeholders, about the heritage of the United States and the traditions of democracy, including democratic principles and the importance of participation in government affairs, and about human and civil rights secured by law. In addition, Psephos will inform citizens about legislation that affects the exercise of rights.

Psephos will meet with elections officials and make site visits and evaluations of policies and procedures and compliance with the law. Psephos will conduct meetings with citizens to provide an overview of common elections problems and provide training on citizen oversight.

This activity will further the goal of informing citizens about the conduct of their government and provide public officials with feedback on their performance by publishing evaluations.

Public education will also be conducted through interactive live, or recorded, presentations, seminars, and workshops, contact with media, publicity, press releases, press conferences, media events, correspondence either written or electronic, Internet-based information, Internet blogs, handouts, video and audio tapes, photography, and public records requests.

Psephos will collect and analyze public records, including election-related records, and industry corporate documents and financial records, including election industry records, and publish that information for public viewing. Psephos will analyze, evaluate, and report on election systems.

Lobbying:

Psephos will lobby to improve laws that protect the right to vote, to ensure the integrity of elections, and to defend human and civil rights secured by law. As long as current legislation ignores the risks to citizens of disenfranchisement, Psephos will lobby to the extent permitted as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity.

Psephos participates in meetings with the San Diego Registrar of Voters along with other concerned citizens to address issues of election integrity. Psephos offers Public Comment to legislative bodies. Psephos participates in citizen rallies and press conferences concerning election integrity issues. Psephos meets with legislators to educate them on democratic principles and problems with current election systems. Psephos reports violations of the law so that the law will be enforced.

ROLL CALL FOR DEMOCRACY - ACCOUNTABILITY

Citizens believe the conduct of elections is out of control in San Diego. Apparently no elected official will accept responsibility for the situation. Psephos co-founder Ken Karan asked each county supervisor to publically state their position on whether they believe secret vote counting is compatible with democracy. No supervisor would take a position on the issue.
